Wrong Again
Every assumption lies.
Every tile on this board tells you what it is. Floor. Wall. Spike. Key. Exit.
Some of them are lying.
You can't tell which until you touch one. Touching the wrong one kills you — but when you rewind, you keep everything you learned. Only your position resets. Your map of what's actually true does not.
So death isn't punishment here. It's the only reliable instrument you have. By level ten you aren't solving a maze — you're auditing a liar.
It teaches you a rule, then breaks it
Floors that are walls. Walls that turn out to be the only real path. A key that isn't a key. An exit that isn't the exit. A rewind counter that misreports itself. And then, late on, lies that quietly move every time you die.
Controls
Arrow keys / WASD to move · R to rewind on purpose · M music on/off · N sound on/off — or click the toggles on screen. Swipe works on mobile, and progress saves so C continues where you left off.
Twelve levels, about five to eight minutes.
Built with
Hand-written HTML5 canvas and vanilla JavaScript. No engine, no framework, no dependencies, and no asset files of any kind.
- Audio is synthesised in your browser at runtime by my own procedural DSP engine — oscillators, envelopes, sweeps and filters. No audio files ship with this game.
- Every visual is drawn with canvas primitives. There are no images in this project.
No generative-AI art, no sampled audio. The code was written with AI assistance and tested by hand, alongside an automated playthrough harness that clears all ten levels, deliberately steps on a spike, and asserts that knowledge survives the rewind.
